Located almost at the foot of the Charles Bridge in Mala Strana is Lokal U Bile Kuzelky, the sister bar to Lokal on Dlouha in Stare Mesto. Serving the same perfect Pilsner, and delicious traditional Czech food, U Bile Kuzelky is one of the best places in Mala Strana for a fantastic Pilsen.
There is nothing like a good, fresh Pilsen, and U Bile Kuzelky has it down perfectly. The taps here are kept in the best condition, serving mugs upon mugs of Pilsen to happy locals and tourists alike. Both Lokal pubs, on Dlouha and U Bile Kuzelky are voted as being in the top 10 best pubs in Prague. And you can truly taste a difference in the Pilsner here. There is a variety of other drinks as well, including traditional Czech spirits such as slivovice, merunkovice, and hruskovice.
With home cooked, simple Czech cuisine on the menu, Lokal uses the best quality ingredients from local suppliers, and traditional cooking methods. We recommend looking at their daily offer, which is written on the board close to the taps. Here, you have a chance to try some hard to find Czech specialities like smoked tongue ‘uzeny hovezi jazyk’ or young beef cheek ‘hovezi licka’. Their rizek (schnitzel) is great, and their tatarsky biftek (tartar steak) is one of the best in Prague.
The interior is simple, but well decorated to give a pleasant atmosphere of old Czech culture from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Service is great too- the staff is friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned that you have enjoyed your time there. If your beer is about finished, someone will appear offering you another delicious mug, which is hard to refuse. Accommodation is also available at U Bile Kuzelky. As Lokal is popular among Czechs and tourists of all ages, we recommend making reservations.
U Bile Kuzelky is located on Misenska street, close to the Charles Bridge in Mala Strana. Take trams 22, 12, 20 to Malostranska Namesti.
