For those who don’t know, the Czech version of Mardi Gras is Masopust, which is celebrated this upcoming Saturday, 18.2. One of our favorite breweries, Uneticky pivovar, is celebrating with a few choice pubs, which will be serving a special 11° dark ‘Masopust’ beer.

Here’s a quick list of the pubs participating:

  • Decentni Dyne- This is a fun pub on Italska in Prague 2, which always has Uneticky 10° and 12° on tap. Starts at 17. There will be special food, people dressed in costume, and of course Masopust 11°. The winner of the best mask contest will be rewarded with the most valuable of presents, beer and food.
  • Roztocko- which is a small village, north of Prague close to the Uneticky brewery, will host their own festival, of course featuring beer from Uneticky.
  • Na Slamniku- This is a pub in Prague 6. Beginning at 8, they’ll have a ‘zabijacky’, which is a traditional pig killing celebration. During the rest of the day, there’ll be entertainment, and of course many dishes from the killed pig.

For more information, have a look at Uneticky’s website.

Many pubs around Prague and the Czech Republic will be celebrating Masopust this Saturday, February 18.
