As 2011 ends, Prague BeerGarden would like to sum up some of the year’s highlights, and what a year it was! We don’t know about you, but we enjoyed 2011; it was a great year for beer drinkers in Prague. 2011 brought about a steady stream of new and better beers from Czech brewers and more diverse, quality driven pubs. Here’s a summary:

Best Pub: Zubaty Pes
Zubaty Pes has given beer drinkers of Prague a steady selection of the best Czech beers, and opened doors to some of the most unusual breweries from abroad, all on well-kept taps.

Beer of the Year: Kocour Samuraj
If there is one beer that we always have a craving for, it’s Samuraj. Brewed by Kocour, this is one tasty ale, perfect for all occasions.

Best Czech Brewery: Kocour - Pivovar Varnsdorf
This year we visited this brewery up north in the small town of Varnsdorf, and had a great time; not only do they brew wonderful and innovative beers, but, they have a great restaurant, and fun events throughout the year.

Best Foreign Brewery: Mikkeller
Brewing an outlandish amount of amazing, addictive, and creative beers, these crazy Danes have challenged many traditional aspects of brewing, while always adding something new. Watch for our article about our recent visit to their pub in early 2012.

Happy New Year!
