Kocour Hoppy Cat

This is a most unusual porter. Brewed in the style of Baltic porters, with a bit of an English twist, this 13° porter from Kocour was brewed in cooperation with Hoppy Brewing Co. Looks prove to be deceiving with this porter; at first glance, you’d expect that it would be heavy, and thick, due to the coal black color, that doesn’t let the slightest flicker of light through your glass. However, your tongue will be surprised. The body of this beer is lighter, an easy flowing liquid with an acidic, almost cola taste in the beginning, that changes into a stronger taste of licorice and an over-riding taste of roasted malt, followed by hints of chocolate. At 4.2%, this beer is shockingly not as strong as it you might expect. A very unique porter, well worth a try or two.
